Happy Water Furnace consumer for 22 years convinced to update system rather than repair circuit board. Installation of 4 ton Series 5 Water Furnace created two issues. The new condensate drain is lower than on the old unit requiring a condensate pump to use the existing drain line. The new unit has a compressor that kicks on at 100+ amps. Not a problem if you have plenty of load available on your power line. If not you'll notice lamps dimming, etc. This too requires an add-on part to soften the start up. All fine IF your installer has included these items in your bid. Not fun if you have to fight it out over whose problem it is.

Sounds like your installing contractor should have added the intellistart kit. We include them on every job, glad you have been happy with the equipment though.

It's good to hear there are installers including it in the bid. If I had run several appliances on a hot day it would have tripped the main breaker - after the installer had left assuring me everything was fine. Yes, the unit worked but created an issue the installer was aware of and chose not to share with me. I learned the same installer tripped the breaker 5 times at a neighbor's house, then blew up the transformer. I'm left wondering how the installer is a GeoPro???

Intellistart should be standard on every job. Strange that you have to fight it out. I want happy customers, thus we put them in on every job also.

On a DIY basis the Intellistart is about a $300 part.  I'm thinking of putting one in for each of my two Envision units, a 3 ton and a 5 ton.  Bill

"I learned the same installer tripped the breaker 5 times at a neighbor's house, then blew up the transformer."

Hmmm Your old unit didn't have Intellistart and should have had similar LRA, something doesn't add up here.
What transformer? the one on the geo or the one on the power line?

"I'm left wondering how the installer is a GeoPro???"

A "geo pro" is someone who sells the required number of heat pumps.

Thanks for the explanation. I mistakenly assumed that a GeoPro label required employing some factory trained techs.
As for having no issues for 22 years with the old unit but immediately having problems when the new unit was installed, I was told the new compressor is larger and pulls more amps. The Intellistart fixed the issue after a heated conversation on who would foot the bill for the part.
As far as the neighbor's issue, after tripping the main breaker 5 times it blew the transformer on the power line, fried the washer, dryer, TV, and flames came out of the electrical outlet. Yes, one of the homeowners was home at the time. Their insurance company is fighting it out.
