Hi, Would someone in the know be so kind to tell me if my Open loop system is plumbed correctly based on the attached photo? I think I am getting a venturi effect on my main household line when the heat pump valve calls for high volumes of water. When the valve of the heat pump opens close to 100% there is a very loud water rushing noise in the main water supply line (even though there should be no water running there). If I manually partially close a shut-off valve to the heat pump intake the noise stops. Any ideas appreciated! - Climatemaster Tranquility 22 - Open loop system - Intelledrive constant pressure well pump system

I can see the picture, just don't know what to tell you. I doubt the house line or a ventrui effect has anything to do with it. What flow rate is the heat pump using? What pressure is it making? Take a pic from further back so we can see more than just that connection or maybe a video.

You could calculate the water velocity from the gpm and the pipe size. Under 4 ft/sec is best.
Some valve designs are noisy - you could replace it.

Thanks for the replies. I think it is getting too much water resulting in noise. What is the most reliable way to calculate the GPM through the system? Looks like 1" pipe. System is at 73 PSI. I understand that pressure differential between the in and out can be used but I have a variable flow valve and I could not find clear information in the manual on how to convert delta-P to GPM. Unit is a 4 ton Climatemaster Tranquility 22 - 048. Pictures of the system attached. (bottom line is water in, 2nd from bottom is water out)
