Hello,
We just built an ICF house with an insulated envelope of 4200 square ft in Mid-Tennessee where winter AM temperatures reach 0-20 degrees F, day temperatures reach 30-50. Summer temperatures run 40-95 degrees F.
Our builder installed a HydroTemp 4 T unit with a hot-water preheating circulating pump. We have four wells at 200' for Geo Loop.

The unit has a Variable fan and compressor unit.
We have shut down the geo system for 2 months during this first winter and heated the house with a wood stove, comfortably. We found this the simplest
way to gauge energy usage of geo system, and assess construction ICF data. The house has 130 yards of insulated concrete walls, and roof envelope has 6" of blown on foam. We are extremely happy with the effects of the ICF construction methodology in summer and winter. Walls function as a huge heat sink.
Our data is indicating that we need about 1100 KWH for LED lights, sauna, hot tub, electric oven, electric dryer and on site water pump. This appears to be what an average US 1500 sq ft house calls for, so our base energy efficiency has been reduced by approximately 60% per square foot.
When our geo system is running the house is extremely comfortable, and energy usage averages 28 KWH/day, or 900 KWH/month during winter months.
During summer and late fall our total energy usage never went over 65 KWH/day and 1900 KWH/month.
Our pre-construction data suggested lower heating and cooling energy consumption using this geo system.
We are interested in hearing from other HydroTemp users, and hearing from comparative units/house owners and builders about their experience.
Our unit does not have a consumer friendly energy monitoring system similar to what WaterFurnace and others are able to use:

We are interested in hearing about retrofits done by others, especially HydroStar unit owners.
Our home will be available for other area builders and electric utility energy co-operatives, so we are working hard at having user-friendly data available.
