Recently the compressor went out on my 9 yo 4 ton Waterfurnace NDV049A. WaterFurnace sent a new compressor & my local technician replaced it and the gas. WF covered a small portion of the install fee.

While he was replacing the unit He told me that the instructions indicated he was to disable the ComfortLink on the furnace's motherboard. It is incompatible with the new compressor.

Since the install, it seems like the same amount of cool air comes out of the registers regardless of whether the thermostat is reporting Stage 1 or Stage 1+2.

But I'm not sure!

And I don't want to run the tech all the way out to the house and be wrong.

Is there anyway I can know for sure?

Should the air temp be lower when the thermostat reports 1+2? If so, is measuring with a regular thermometer sufficient to show the difference?

Should the air flow be different when the thermostat reports 1+2? How do you measure air flow?

Should something else be different?

The temperatures have not been exceedingly high since the install last week. But after the install, the thermostat was set to 73F & outside temps at about 80F. The inside temp, reported by the thermostat began at 73F with the furnace on Stage 1. The inside temp climbed to 74F. The furnace went to Stage 1+2. It stayed there for several hours before returning to 73F.

Since then the outside temps have not required more than Stage 1.

I appreciate your help,

Does anyone know what the Comfort Link does in a Waterfurnace, or did in a Waterfurnace?
