Hello, In the process of shopping for a new heat pump to replace my 5 Ton Miami Heat Pump with desuperheater which has an irreparable refrigerant leak at year 5. I'm getting some quotes from local contractors, and all seem to be recommending different brands. With my current unit failing at 5-yrs, I have to put warranty towards the top of my needs list based on this experience, in addition to performance/noise/etc. Does anyone have good experience or feedback on any of the following brands I've heard from; 1. Geosmart - Seems like a newcomer, preferred product from my preferred contractor. Mot sure if they will be around and question the lack of warranty 10/5/1 manufacturers I believe? 2. Tetco - Been around a while, Enertech product, solid warranty 10/10/5 manufacturers 3. Geocomfort - Same as above, not sure if better or worse product? 4. Hydron Module - Same as above, not sure if better or worse? 5. Climatemaster - Don't know much, solid warranty 10/10/5 Any thoughts or feedback based on the brands above? Thanks

Here is a good list of performance values. After having 2 houses with Geo I don't think there is anything close to the savings they claim.

I had a Climate Master and a Water Furnace in my last house. Water Furnace went bad in like 3 years. I had heard that the US Government makes it mandatory for the suppliers to have a 8 year warranty on parts for the units? I did a quick search but didn't find confirmation of that.

I liked the Climate Master we had.

My new house we went cheap with GeoCool but it works. We don't heat with geo anymore because I compared running geo and using natural gas and natural gas was 80% of the cost to run the geo. We can heat our house with Geo, Natural Gas, or Wood. Last year we burned $600 worth of wood and only saved $300 in Natural Gas so now we just burn wood for the comfort of a nice fire.

In the summer we run well water through our heated floors to cool the house while we water the grass(just use a small sprinkler) and like 10 days a year run the geo to cool on super hot days.

Good luck
