Hello all,
I have a Climatemaster Tranquility 30 that keeps popping the breaker on the internal 24v transformer. When this happens my thermostat loses all power. If I turn off the main breaker to the furnace for a while and let it sit, I can reset the breaker and it will run for a few minutes before popping again. My meters shows 27v coming out of the transformer. If I try to reset it right away while power is going to the unit, it pops instantly.
The transformer is number 15B0022N02. The board is a DMX2.
I am wondering if the transformer is possibly going bad. It has run for three years without a hiccup.
Is there anything else I should check?

Do you have a amp clamp type meter to measure the current going through the wire? My guess is the breaker from your description, but normally the transformer goes bad more frequent. Is the transformer getting hot/warm?

Thanks for the response. I figured it out - there is a wire off the back of the board that ran next to a refrigerant line. Apparently in the last three years there was enough vibration to wear the coating off the wire just enough that it was shorting against that copper line. A quick couple wraps of black tape and no more problem.
Thanks again for the help!
