There does not seem to be a lot of talk about steel framed homes in terms of green buidling. I am talking of homes like the red iron steel homes of Excalibur, http://www.excalibursteel.com/, anad Kodiak,  http://www.kodiaksteelhomes.com/. IT appears that these homes had iinstituted techniques to  counter the thermal bridging associated with steel frames. It also seems they havev something to offer in terms of strength, simplification of construction, and use of less wood. Yet they don't seem to get much traction. Anyone know why?

I don't know what part of the country you are in, but there is a company in Tucson, AZ called Energy Panel Systems at www.energypanelsystems.com that builds steel frame SIPs with no thermal bridging and an R-30 rating.

Tell Glenn that Glen sent you!
