Hello,

I've been scouring the site since I found it and this is a great help. We're just waiting for our plans to be approved (hopefully soon!!) and I need to get a cost analysis into the bank for a draw mortage. We're trying to go as green as possible so there are some challenges but I think it will be worth it in the end.

I know there are a lot of different websites that sell some planning programs that I think would be a great help to a first timer like me. I just wanted to know if anyone has found any detailed ones out there that would include a budget. I don't mind paying, but not for something that won't measure up.

Thanks a lot,
Sean.

Hi Sean,

Below is a link to a simple budget spreadsheet that I have on my web site. It is nothing fancy. You enter numbers into the various catagories and the totals roll up to the top.

Just be careful where you input numbers and make sure the totals change. This is a very simple spreadsheet and it can be broken.

Anyway, you may find it useful.

Thanks John, I took a look through your site while I was at it, looks pretty good!

I can't open the file on either of my computers so I'll have to download Excel and check it out.

...and I thought that there were 3 rules...Good, Fast and Cheap - however one could only choose 2.

If one chooses Good and Fast...than it won't be Cheap
If one chooses Good and Cheap...than it won"t be Fast
and
If one chooses Fast and Cheap... Than it won't be Good

John;

Very well designed spreadsheet. I would like to amend mine with your permission as yours is quite a bit more detailed!

John,

I finally got it to work that looks great, it has even more detail than I expected. I don't plan on going cheap at all but I would like to have an idea where I'm headed. I'm just finishing up a '31 Model A that started with a $10000 budget, I think I'm closer to $25 000. Gonna have to learn how to follow the plans better.

Thanks again John,

Sean

Hi Sean,

Glad to hear that you are able to use the spreadsheet. Yes, I know what you mean about going over budget. Nowdays, I always add an additional percentage to almost everything to try and compensate.

Donnerwetter, sure, use any part of it that you like.
