Hey guys I was reading recently that the Ad Council did a study which stated that our kids spend about 50% less time outdoors than kids did 20 years ago.  Nowadays there is so much more reason to stay indoors for kids that they aren't getting to know the outdoors as much as their parents did at their age.

The Forest Service has embarked on a campaign called "Where The Other You Lives" , which is designed to get kids and parents to understand the benefits of life outdoors.  The marketing company i work for made me aware of this campaign as we have the campaign, check out the Forest Services website here: "Where the Other You Lives" .

Raising environmentally conscious kids is one way of protecting the beauty of the earth, and to start this our kids have to have a stake in it's protection.

Might help to take them to some pristine, beautiful place and then to some place that is really polluted. Too many people do just the former, which tells them that the environment is fine and doesn't need work.

Agreed, any place that displays the beauty of nature will only galvanize them to protect it.

Update:  The Forest Service has updated their campaign.  Now they have a sweepstakes designed to award families who try to experience nature. Winners of the contest get a north face gift certificate, and all it takes is a drawing/coloring of nature!
