Hi, We are currently developing a full scale solution for building low income green housing, focusing on thermal insulation. Reality: Over 400,000 homes/year are being built in Mexico using in-situ casting with regular concrete (4 inch walls) resulting in very cheap construction and very poor insulation. Making the "worst" houses form a green stand point not to mention the poorest living conditions for the owners. Reality: The mexican low income housing developers cannot aford increase in costs. Reality: We have developed, with Australian engineers, a very efective wall building system based on precast celular concrete interlocking blocks (www.litebuilt.com.mx). Problem: We cannot find a cost efective insulating roof building system, does anybody have a viable product/idea??? Problem: does anybody know how to dramatically raise the compresive strenght of celular concrete so it can be used instead of regular concrete in in-situ casting??? Thanks! Hector;

we are providing low cost housing to Guyana using metal based SIPs for the roof and walls that require no additional coverings, they are very green and good insulation, since Guyana is out of the hurricane zone we are able to go as thin as 4" for the roofs

I'm in the process of checking out a type of building system that might be applicable.  When I get the information on it I'll post it if I think it will work...................

What about composite ICFs? They also make an insulated floor form that could be used for a roof. Composite ICFs use 85% recycled material and less concrete to fill. I believe Perform wall is made in Mexicali Mexico.
