I am renovating a log cabin, which I intend to live in. There is no insulation at all beneath the wooden floors (most of which will be replaced). My contractor identified Dow's SafeTouch insulation with an R-19 value as one product to consider for this space. Dow's blurb says:
"SAFETOUCH Fiberglass-Free Insulation has the same insulating properties
as fiberglass. In fact, it even looks the same as traditional
insulation. But that’s where the similarities end. SAFETOUCH is
manufactured from the same type of fibers used to make clothing and
bedding, so it’s not irritating to bare skin. It has no formaldehyde
binders, no acrylic binders and no borates, which are found in most
other traditional insulation products, SAFETOUCH Fiberglass-Free
Insulation is better for your family and for the environment." http://building.dow.com/na/en/safetouch/index.htm
Does anyone have any experience with it? Any other suggestions? The cabin is in Richmond, Virginia.
Thanks for your help!
