I have a 2nd floor drain for my laundry area.  Normally most people would run the drain or washing machine pan  to  the sump pump.  The way my house is constructed it's nearly impossible to reach the sump.  The easiest thing for me to do is pipe the line directly outside.  This works out well because the drain would not be very visible but if a leaked developed it would be very apparent.  My concern is that I am trying to build a tight house so i've created a 1.5" hole to the exterior.   The other option would be to construct an additional sump pit by cutting my basement slab.  The inspector requires that the drain be visible so that if there is a leak you can find out.

Questions

Do they make a damper for 1.5" sch 40 pvc that I could install at the pipe termination point?

Am I better off just making a new sump pit that would drain into my foundation drain which runs into my sump pit?

Keep in mind I cannot tie into the sewer drain b/c of the sewer odor...a p-trap would eventually dry out b/c this is just an emergency drain.

Thanks
