I’m looking for a brand name, supplier or source for a vinyl backed fiber glass insulation that can be hung against a poured concrete basement wall to provide insulation.  I have seen a home that the builder suspended this style of vinyl sheets from the wood seal plates and hung down the vertical walls of the basement.  Unfortunately I didn’t get the product name.  I’m guessing, but it was about 36 inches wide and a vinyl tape was used to seal the vertical seams.

Any info on this product would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

That type insulation is normally used in commerical structures (red iron steel buildings, pole barns, etc.)
You could check with local commerical builders for a source. Otherwise, check out Bay Insulation on the web.
I know they have an office in Indianapolis, IN, and maybe one in MI also.
Personally, I doubt that it is the best type insulation to use in a masonry basement setting. Hopefully, Dana or some of the other more knowledgeable insulation folks will offer their thoughts on this subject soon.

There is encapsulated  fiberglass batts sealed in a polyethylene or PVC film.

Encapsulated batts are designed for use in structures where a fibrous clean environment is needed. It is also recommended where the insulation is subjected to substantial moisture or air movement.

But I don't care for any fiberglass close to masonry, encapsulated or not

Thanks guys for the input.  The concrete walls are dry and moisture really isn't an issue.  The concrete has one inch of foam on the exterior.  There is about 24 inches of the concrete wall that is above grade that isn’t insulated.  This is the area I’m most interested in insulating.  Can you suggest where I might find the encapsulated fiberglass with the PVC film?  I’m also open to other products that might be better suited.

Thanks again for your help!

I think Home Depot has it, if they don't .............. most commercial drywall supply houses would sell insulation too, they could source it for you
