I'm planning on having built a cottage of about 1200 ft2, with a mezzanine; the piece of land is a 50 000 ft2 forest near a river. Mostly my intention is to rent the cottage, but I want to make it as green as possible (or as cost-effectively possible ;)).

I was considering prefab houses, but am not sure about the green value of those. Any help, ideas or commentaries?

If you want to make it more green why dont you go for green roofs, it can make your cottage more beautiful.

Why - do people use EPDM liners on green roofs ;-) If you have experience on green roofs, please start a new thread. I have always been interested but not found enough info! I would love to see an informative discussion on this.
