Has anyone used PEX piping? Any opinions?

I think it is great. Better, faster, cheaper and more durable for domestic water.

Yes, I've installed PEX piping and I like it. It's great for DIYers because it takes less skill to install. The cost of tubing is cheap enough to justify homerun piping which allows you to use 1/2" tubing throughout and minimizes the number of joins (two per run.) Running PEX water pipe is almost like pulling wire which really speeds up the installation. I used the Uponor brand PEX with the expansion tool and never had a leaking join. Their PEX also is unaffected by water freezing in the pipes if that's a concern. Keep in mind that PEX cannot be exposed to sunlight.
