I have several choices as to the direction I take. It would be extremely helpful to have a computer program which models house performance ahead of time so I can make intelligent choices as to techniques. Does anyone have a favorite or know of any in the public domain? It doesn't have to be free, but I'm not a professional making a living with it either, so any price above $250 or so is not in the cards. Any thoughts?

hot2000 - whole house energy modeling - free
wufi - realistic calculation of the transient hygrothermal behaviour of multi-layer building components - free (you'll be able to see if your wall stackup will be able to dry or if it will accumulate moisture)

that's about everything you need

good luck,
adi
