My company has taken an old Mobile Home in Ocala, Florida and has encapsulated it in 3 LB closed cell foam.  The before and after photos can be seen at safedomes   dot  com.

No longer does this 2,000 sq ft mobile require a Central AC and in the 90 degree Florida heat remains cool throughout the day.
Next will be to install solar panels so as to get as close as possible to having this mobile off the grid.

Can you imagine if all the mobile homes in Florida could be taken off the Grid?

COOL!

Heck with getting them all off-grid, just knocking back their compressor power draw by 75-90% would be a real coup.

How thick was the foam, and what was the total number board-feet applied?

On a leaky old mobile I suspect even an inch would drop the latent load by 90% and the sensible load by 60%.

Unfortunately I was not on site when the spraying was done but am told it is 1.5 inches.

I am told the interior temp from before and after is dramatic and that a window shaker cools the home down easily and stays
Next solar panels to get off the grid

Adding 1.5" of 3lb foam would be adding ~R11 to the whole-assmemly Rs. The walls probably starting out at about R5-R6 (R8 batts in 16" o.c. 2x3s), so the conducted heat gain through the walls is cut by ~2/3.

If there are R13 batts in the roof that part would have started out at ~R10, so the heat gain through the roof has been cut in half.

But the air infilration has probably been cut by a huge amount with a continuous skin of foam over it.

Are they putting anything over the foam to protect it from the elements? (A sprayed on "cool roof" coating or a roofiing membrane or something?)

Coated with sprayed on synthetic polymer to protect the foam could also apply a stucco surface for optional finish

Know someone who lives in a Mobile Home in Florida I will save them money
