Hi all,

Does anyone know of an outfit that will prepare NEW hand-hewn beams? (not reclaimed)

Project may require larger, and long beams.  12x12", 32ft.

Thx!

CB.

Note:  Western US would be ideal.

My barn guy in Upstate NY has a fellow who takes sawn cut beams and then works them (using the traditional methods) to make them look hand hewn. It's somehting we will need to do with our 1800's English 3-bay frame as it is missing some of the longer beams. I could check if the fellow is available, but it probably wouldn't help since he is located in the NE.

You could check with the guys on forestryforum.com. There is a sub-forum devoted to timber framing and log cabins.

You might try Mamoth Mill and Log Homes in Eagle Nest NM.  They appear to have gotten into timbers as well as logs .  Cut only dead standing timber so it is dry.
