Recently bought a house built in 1957 and there is very little to no insulation in the house. That being said, the homes master bedroom is above the garage, and i want to insulate the ceiling between the floors. So how do I go about doing it? Being a ceiling there are probably pieces of lumber inside the joists to tie them together which would then make it impossible to know where to blow in insulation. So I am thinking I can't just cut a hole and blow in cellulose, and unless there is chemical free foam, blow in is one if not my only option. I was also thinking that I may have to drop the ceiling to insulate properly.... Any thoughts?

Contact a local insulator, have them look at it. Bridging would not prevent the blowing in of insulation.
