Anyone used vinyl sandwich panels (so it's sturdy and rigid) in a rainscreen application? Feasible? Thoughts?

CorAVent makes a plastic product of that sort, in strips, for furring out the siding from the housewrap or felt (WRB). But my first thought about using vinyl panels to cover the whole wall surface is that you'd have a serious wrong-side vapor barrier problem if you are in a heating climate and need to have the wall assembly dry to the exterior. Where are you?

I'm not so much asking about the furring strip materials, and yes there are a few makers of vinyl furring strips (VaproShield makes a VaproBatten). My home will be built in Redmond, WA -- lots of moisture. So I plan to have an open-joint rainscreen. My question is can I use 4'x8' vinyl composite panels as an alternative to fiber cement or metal panels?
