Anyone know of suppliers of used or discounted rigid foam products near zip code 22834?  Building a stick built shop, but will insulate exterior walls with 1.5" foam over osb down to footing  and 2" under the slab.   Will vent the attic and insulate above ceiling.   Dave

IIRC the Insulation Depot folks have a facility W Va somewhere- call them to find out where. http://www.insulationdepot.com/

If you can take a truckload they ship nationwide, but it's cheaper shipping if it's goods currently in stock from one of their facilities closer to your location rather than shipping it from FL or MA. If it's close enough to drive to, they'll sell even small quantities if you bring your own truck.

It might be easier to source if you could tolerate 2" foam though, since the more common thicknesses of roofing foam out there starts at 2", not 1.5". Using 2" roofing EPS is fine below grade, and 2" polyiso would be outstanding over OSB.

You might also call around to local commercial roofing contractors. Surprisingly, I found several in my relatively small city that had reclaimed Polyiso from commercial re-roofs. I was planning to purchase material from Insulation Depot, and they had very competitive prices, but I was able to save money by avoiding the shipping costs purchasing locally.

Roofing polyiso is great stuff for above grade walls and roofs, and even for interior-side basement walls, but not for under slabs or on foundation exteriors where it can become waterlogged. It's denser and more rugged than most foil-faced goods. Hold out for EPS or XPS for anything in contact with soil.

Snoslider, great idea which I will pursue as Insulation Depot is not close enough for small quantity pickup.
