I have a structure w/ an aluminum skin glued & screwed to 1 1/4" aluminum box studding. Between the studs is solid, closed-cell polystyrofoam of the same thickness. Inside is 1/8" composite (plastic) paneling glued to the aluminum studding. I don't think I can peel this off. I want to add insulation that 1)is the BEST I can do in the space I have available, 2)uses LVOL amap, and 3)uses the vapor barriers correctly. I can add 2" to the inside wall. I don't want to add additional studding to the aluminum in place. Rather, I'll glue whatever insulation I add to the composite. The interior is living space heated w/ propane and cooled w/ the usual refrigerated cycle system. Two, 1" panels of polyisocyanurate come to mind using LVOL foam board adhesive, if it exists. But this doesn't give me any air spaces at all. I could sandwich a layer of Reflectix? I'll cover the inside w/ 1/8" birch or 1/8" hardboard and paint w/ a sealer and acrylic latex. What would YOU do with the 2" space? JC

Consider Thermax since it is fire resistant. Tape it up really well so no air can flow to cold aluminum.
