I'm building a natural house out in the country for a weekend house. It will be a straw bale house with a mud plaster finish. I watched a video of a guy who built one of these and he advocating using thick adobe walls on several of the interior walls. He explained that they act as a thermal mass to store heat in the winter and absorb and take away heat in the summer. He had no air conditioner and said his house rarely gets above 80 degrees. So we're in Texas so heat gain is our biggest problem. Is there really a benefit to having adobe walls in a hot environment as he claims?
