Hello,

We are in the process of building a new home and have just finished insulating the exterior of the foundation (full height) using 2" of XPS (Owens Corning C-200). I also had the waterproofing membrane (platon) installed to the top of the foundation (on the outside of the XPS). My plan was to attach an aluminum or galvanized  cap over top by attaching it to the above grade frame (just a few inches above foundation), have it run across the top of the foundation, XPS, Platon membrane and then go down the outside of the platon membrane (with a drip edge bent). Initially, I was only going to go down 4 or 5 inches, but the building inspector doesn't want any of the platon membrane exposed to the elements. I will not cut any of the layers down to below grade, so I am looking for surface finishing options on the outside of the platon membrane. I don't want to use any PT wood product or parge. My thoughts were to run the drip edge further down (maybe 1 inch above grade or using vertical vinyl siding to go from top of foundation to just below grade (and have the aluminum cap/drip edge go over top of that). Any thoughts / help would be appreciated. I am in a bit of a time crunch as this needs to be solved within the next 2 weeks.

Thank you.
