We recently bought a house built in 1986 using the best efficiency options at the time. It was the architect's personal home. It uses passive solar for heating and cooling and a trombe wall in the middle of the house that extends into the foundation and receives sun light from large 2nd story windows during the winter, but not the summer. The foundation is insulated, etc. 3 bed 3 full bath 3382 sqft, 2 story.
We installed an 8120 watt solar panel system and are trying to get off of gas by upgrading to efficient electric systems when our major systems need replacing. I am preparing our shopping list so we are ready when something fails.
Is there anything I am missing? Not looking to do major remodel type work. Just looking to replace things as they fail with the right option.
Ductless mini-split AC - we currently have 1 3-ton AC for upstairs and 1 3-ton ac for downstairs, both using gas furnaces. One of the systems is 2003, so planning on converting half the house to something like a Mr. Slim when the time comes.
Heat pump water heater - considered tankless electric, but the panel work seems excessive. Also considered solar, but was reading that its actually more efficient now to do hpwh+solar pv.
Induction cooktop. Our oven is an electric model from 1986 that will probably never break.
Heat pump clothes dryer and seal up the vent hole.
Anything else I am missing here that is relatively plug and play? |
