I have a Fantech HRV providing ventilation for my super insulated home. The unit has worked great for 8 months but is now shutting off at times for no apparent reason. It will start up again by itself but goes off again seemingly at random intervals. The display screen goes blank and the unit shuts down. It ran great all winter and we have just begun opening some windows as the weather allows. Any ideas as to what might be happening. Thanks

you could call Fantech and talk to a tech. Do you have a central control? Sounds like it may be programmed to run under certain conditions.

Yes, there is a central control in the living room as well as 2 button ventilation boosters in the 2 bathrooms.

check how it's programmed; and/or call the Fantech Tech department - they can probably help.

The display screen going blank makes it sound like it's a control problem, not a problem with the actual unit itself. I agree that contacting Fantech is a good next move.

Does the system use a separate control power supply/transformer or does the control panel get it's power from the main unit? Regardless of the source of control power, with the display blanking out, I would probably start looking at the control power supply and it's wiring. It could be as simple as a lose connection in the control power wiring...
