hot water for new build

We're looking at all the options for hot water in our new build on the border of zone 5/6. My HERS rate suggested I look at the "SunBandit", a pv powered hot water heater. Has anyone heard or seen one in operation?

Sounds like it would work. But check the payback and compare to other options. 1 GPM shower heads, heat pump water heater, drain water heat recovery, natural gas, etc.
