A whole house reno years in the making, anyhow, a question. Window header 2-8 RO width, 24' wide ranch w truss ceiling/roof 24" OC. Looking for a nailing/ screw surface over window. Single 2x10 header against interior sheetrock with 2" foam board between it and 1/2 plywood sheathing ok? or a problem. Have the materials and framing easier w full height header. Southern Vermont

How wide is your wall? ACTUALLY. 2x4 2x6

Also, if this is whole-house, are you going to be adding exterior insulation?
If so, a foam sandwich header really isn't needed.
