Good Morning! I am in the process of updating the basement of a late 80's home that I recently purchased. I am finishing the partially unfinished space with XPS against the foundation wall and floor, and tearing out old drop ceiling and carpet in the space already completed previously. A bit stuck on what to do with the finished exterior walls in that area that is already done (~60 ft total). They used poly against the foundation with a stud wall 1" away insulated with unfaced fiberglass. Not the worst way to do it, especially since most modern building science says to keep the moisture towards the foundation, but not how I would have done it either. Do I rip this down also and start over, or let it be and save my time and sanity? Thanks!

This is not actually a construction issue.
It's a set of nested conditionals.

How much is your time worth to you?
And how much is your peace of mind worth?

I guess that depends..... what are the potential issues? Is this a horrible way of constructing a basement wall, or just less than ideal given what we know about current building science?

Are you having problems with moisture in the walls right now? If not having problems, I would leave it.
