Hello -
House built in 2004, Colorado. Was last painted 2010 (SW Superpaint). Repainting now but have a question about the butt joints of the fiber cement siding. Previously, they had been caulked. However, I read somewhere that it's not recommended to caulk. Instead, the flashing beneath handles water run-off. I had some painters come out and one said they would not caulk because it's not recommended. The other said they actually would caulk since the joints were caulked previously (even though they shouldn't have been he said). Not sure which one is correct, or maybe it doesn't matter really? Also, is it for sure the house has flashing beneath the joints (was it standard back in 2004)?
Thanks for any help! |
