I HAVE A CUSTOMER INSTALLING SOLAR POWER ON HIS HOME.  THE COUNTY WANTS AN AUTOMATIC DISCONNECT INSTALLED SO WHEN THE POWER COMPANIES GRID GOES DOWN IT WILL NO LONGER FEED THE POWER BACK IN THE GRID.   HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT KIND OF SWITCH IS TO BE USED

YOW, please don't shout.

What kind of power controller is he using? Most of them handle this automatically.

Gee, there are a number of other things necessary to the design... hope he knows them.

Any inverter that meets UL1741 utility-interactive guidelines will meet all the requirements.  My favorites are Outback inverters, but the new Xantrex inverters are nice.

The new Magnum 120/240 inverters are pretty nifty too........they also auto disconnect. If the contractor installing the solar doesn't have a grip on this, I would worry.
