Hi!  Has anyone used bamboo flooring?  Our flooring contractor recommended against it, because he said it would begin to come apart over time.  Any experiences like this?  We really like bamboo flooring, for its sustainability & its looks, and would like to use it, but obviously not if it would come apart as time passes.

Thank you for any thoughts!

I have installed Bamboo a few times, because of it sustainability and looks, I did get complaints of minor scratches and not being able to repair, as well as UV fade where a door mat was left for a few months and when removed the area under the rug was certainly darker and nothing could be done to fix it, mind you this problem could happen with almost any flooring. One thing I read lately (Last Month) was there are several different grades of Bamboo, just like conventional lumber, however, the grading is not regulated, it is applied by the individual manufacturer, so what company A calls select or better, company B may call #2 quality, and this answered my question as to why I see Bamboo for 1.89 sq.ft. up to 9.50 sq.ft. My only advice is know exactly what you are buying, see the product before you purchase rather than buying over the phone or off the web as the quality will be different between manufacturers and their individual rating systems.
