Has anyone any experience with Canexel siding? It's prefinished wood-appearance panels like vinyl siding, but made of wood fibers mixed with resin and wax.

I'm looking for an exterior wall finish that is green, low/zero-maintenance, and not expensive. It's for a cold climate, central Ontario. I've been planning natural (cement or lime-based) stucco but my contractor is hesitating over the complex multiple layers involved (and I think he's having trouble finding an experienced installer in our rural region). So he's looking for something that meets my above goals and is easy to install. Canexel might, but with all the greenwashing I wondered if anyone knows if it's good siding material.

I'm open to alternative suggestions. What do most green builders use?

Thanks,
...Terry

Terry;

most green builders are using fibercement siding, I would not necessarily discount Vinyl siding , I can certainly make the case for its green-ness
