Hopefully someone will be able to help me out. I have 2 quotes for windows & Hurd comes in around $3000 cheaper. Can someone tell me if Hurd is a good of a window as Simonton? Or close to it? I know there are variables such as the efficiency ratings. I have the Simonton-here is one window & they are all similar:
56"x74" (O) ProFinish Brickmould 600 White Double Hung; Horizontal Twins (2 windows, 1 opening); BM; Pre-Mulled; Colonial All White 1" Contour (1V0H) (1V0H); Intercept; Low E Softcoat (Prosolar); Argon Gas; Double Glazed; Regular Strength (1/8"); Half Screen Fiberglass Extruded Screen Mold; 00 No Reinforcement; One White; Plain (U=101"); DP:35; Test Number=94531.01; U-Factor:.31; SHGC:.25; Unit qualifies for ENERGY STAR region(s): North Central, South Central, Southern.
They are all similar although some have a lower U-Factor.
The only information for the Hurd is this:
StyleView DP25 Twin Double Hung Nailfin Equal White Rough Opening Size: 56" W X 72" H Net Frame Size: 55 1/2" W X 71 1/2" H Glass Options: Low-E Grid Options: GBG Sculptured 7/8" Colonial White Both Sashes 2W2H/2W1H Other Options: Full Screen White
I emailed them after receiving it asking for the energy ratings so I will include them when I get them. But they should be similar.
So, are Hurd as good as Simonton providing they are equally energy efficient? Thanks in advance for any replies!

apple and oranges ......... what is the U factor for Hurd, your info shows no argon gas in Hurd? you would do better with Simonton if you can but thru a builders supply house like
ABC
