We are looking at windows for our new home and the two companies we have it narrowed down to are Thermotech fiberglass and Accurate Dorwin. Both seem to have had very good reviews and very little negative feedback, but the Thermotech are significantly more expensive. Most of the feedback I've seen is a few years old and only from people who have just installed the windows. I would love to hear feedback, good or bad about either company, and specifically from Thermotech customers if the price is worth it. Also, I've sent away for quotes from nine, fibertec and serious and haven't heard back from any of them about getting a quote. I'm on a deadline and need to decide by Friday at the latest which windows I'm going to use. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Thermotech and Accurate Dorwin are very similar windows. Each are based on the 325 pultrusion provided by the late OmniGlass factory. Figure out what the differences are and ask yourself if they are worth the price difference. Colors, hardware, glazing...etc

How about inline or weather shield fiberglass windows?

I haven't heard of weather shield, but I did email inline and never heard back from them! I've decided to go with Accurate because their quote was significantly cheaper and from what I've read, their windows are similar in quality. I just couldn't justify an additional $15,000 for thermotech.

I think you made a wise choice. Thermotech makes a fine product, but the differences don't justify 15k difference in my book either.

I know this is quite late but I have used both Thermotech and Dorwin (before it was Accurate). The first Dorwins were in 1993, triple glazed and only one small issue since then. The first thermotechs are about 10 years, again triple glazed with absolutely no issues. I know the owner of Thermotech and must say he (Stephen) is as honest as they come and has told me on occasion to buy a competitors windows because they would be a better value than his for the use I had.

Cheers,

I am writing to update...We ended up purchasing our window and door package from Accurate Dorwin. I wish I could say that we had a positive experience, but it has been horrible. I have to first say that the sales person (who is no longer employed with them) was amazing. he took the time to answer my questions, and updated my quote several times because of changes that we made. When I made him aware of the issues I was having, he started working immediately on forming a game plan. Cory, I don't know where you ended up, but I hope that company knows they are lucky to have you!

Unfortunately, the service disappeared when Cory left. He told me that he had passed my contact information on and that I would be taken care of...but I wasn't. I had to make several phone calls and email several times before someone got back to me (Cory left in August 2013 and I didn't get a reply to multiple emails and phone calls until February, 2014).

When I finally did hear back from someone, it took months of writing back and forth and then finally a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to get them to send someone to repair some, but not all of the issues I needed addressed with the doors. They still haven't addressed everything and have indicated that they will not address these issues.

Last, the windows I bought are leaking. They didn't sent someone out to address the windows leaking at the same time as the door service technician came. Again, they ignored my emails requesting a game plan. It wasn't until I had paid to have a report done (paid for by myself) that they emailed back. The report showed that the windows were not manufactured properly. By the time they emailed back I had already hired a company to make the necessary repairs and the majority of the work was complete. Unfortunately, the interior of the windows are a wood veneer, and are damaged because of the leaking. They have refused to compensate me for expenses I have incurred to repair the windows themselves, as well as the wood veneer.

If anyone is considering using this company, please reconsider. If you want to see the report or pictures, please contact me and I will send it to you. Please do not pay tens of thousands of dollars for windows and doors that are faulty. I don't want any other families to suffer the same stress that we have the last 2 years at the hands of this company.

I found this old message board post while Googling reviews of Accurate Dorwin fiberglass windows for a potential lawsuit we are filing against them. We purchased their 425 Series fiberglass casement, awning and fixed windows in 2014 and installed them in 2015. Over the past couple of years a majority of our insulated glass units have failed. There are hundred of dots inside each IG. It is most noticeable at night time when only interior lights are on. We purchased their triple pane Solarban 60 IGUs with Argon gas. We have contacted their customer service countless times via email and phone and they refused to do anything about it. They are just hiding behind the fact that they are under new ownership even though this is their product and is still the exact same product they manufacture today. Avoid Accurate Dorwin at all costs! If you are in the Winnipeg area and need fiberglass windows then there are other companies in the area to buy from.
