Was looking at another thread about Inuts windows, went to their site, and examined some pictures of various windows. I like the idea of tilt/turn, as I've seen many of them here in Europe. My question is - can they be secured in a partially open position to a degree that would deter an intruder from forcing the window open? During times of the year when it's possible, I like to sleep with the windows partially open and enjoy the fresh air. All the casements I've seen can be left partially open for ventilation, but are very easy to force open - there's no real locking mechanism to keep the window secured in a partially open position. I've seen double-hungs with this feature and it's pretty effective, but due to the air sealing issues with double hungs it's not the best solution for a super energy efficient home. However, I'm prepared to sacrifice a little performance for security, as my house will be all one level and I don't want people getting into my house at night through partially open windows. My questions doesn't necessarily apply to just Intus windows. Any ideas to secure windows in a partially open position would be appreciated. If there's a way I can get a secure partially open window without going to double hungs, that'd be great. Thanks...

With a tilt&turn window, in the tilt position it will allow for venting on top but it cannot be pushed open without closing it and turning the inside handle. Can someone lean on the window and try and force it open? Possibly but it would require breaking all the pins and brackets in the window assembly and it would be very loud and require a lot of violent force, even then I don't think it would be easy to get it to open.

Out of any window design (casement, single hung, slider), the tilt&turn when in the tilt position is the most secure when open. If a casement, single hung or slider is left in the partially open position, it can be easily opened and entry can be made.

While not specifically an Intus window, it is a Euro tilit&turn and it explains it quite well:
