Hi new to the forum, I searched for threads on Ostaco windows, anyone have comments, good or bad? Price, quality...compared to Inline? Both are manufactured in Toronto.
Thanks,
Stuart |

Ostaco is not a name that comes up much in the high efficiency circles that I work in. Inline, Thermotech, and Accurate Dorwin are the top fibreglas frame windows around (Inline is at the bottom of the good stuff in my mind). Also, Reiner, "the reno coach" brings in really good Rehau products (not available here from Rehau) from Germany at good prices with standard triple glazing.

Hi New to this forum as well, Ostaco has always been referred to a higher end vinyl window manufacture, recently, two years ago launched a new "true triple glaze window", referring to the the fact that the window "Ener-Sense" from it beginnings was designed for the challenges of triple glaze. features include; 90 to 95 thou walls, added rigidity by added chambers, the hardware designed by Truth for a triple glaze product{others still use the typical hardware for dual glaze, which has proven problematic when it comes to sizing and weight} ,exterior glaze which keeps the sash profile more narrow and more true to a clad wood product,{this was a must have when in the design stage}, 26 optional standard colour plus colour match if required, the interior finishes are standard cellular PVC in standard BM cc40 cloud white. this window has been designed as well to have solid wood interior, coming in Clear Pine, Oak, and Cherry, again as a standard if you chose.
The Ostaco Ener-Sense window is also posted on the Energy Star website under the "Most Efficient" category
And I don't want to take anything away from the Fiberglass product, it to is good, but, when it comes to custom transoms, common on retro fit projects... just a FYI... they use vinyl......
Ostaco also has a full line of doors, fiberglass with either vinyl clad or solid wood frames, {pre-painted or stained}patio doors, new bi-fold door, garage door frames, interior shutters for the windows, retractable screens for the entry or patio doors, plus two other vinyl window product offerings .

What are the drawbacks to Inline as compared to the others? How long have fiberglass residential windows been around in use? |

Went to price out Ostaco windows and doors.... the Enersense window vinyl is a different white than ThermaTru terrace doors? Strike 1. Ostaco doesn't have the option of i81/i89 glass from Cardinal! Strike 2. I am now looking at Strassburger, they have all doors and windows I need and and have the i81/i89 option! Anyone dealt with Strassburger? Opinions?
Thanks |

Good morning, not sure where that info came from, response to #1, the Ener-sense window is a Antique White finish, there's a matching solid colour for the door frames, however, the Therma-Tru slabs always come unfinished and can be painted to match(20 year Warranty}.this is a standard practise in the industry. Response to # 2 . i81/i89 is an offering from Cardinal, and Cardinal has supplied the sealed units for Ostaco for over 10 years now,{one of the first to do so in the GTA}. they also offer, 180,272, 366 and all can have the option of i81..

Really??? You sure? Perhaps our lingo's are different but you are wrong. All transoms are 100% fiberglass. Call them if you do not believe me, I will apologize if I am wrong. What I think you mean is the 1/2 rounds. They sell both a vinyl and fiberglass due to cost. It is a custom order.
Therefore you should clarify/investigate/educate yourself before making such a statement. Sell your company on their merits will always prove to be best.
Let me know.

My apologizes as I've been lead to believe my comment correct... and it was not to disregard the fiberglass products by any means and if that is the way it come off... again my apologizes as I was referring to shapes. However, when I did clarify ,investigate .. educate, it was on a retrofit job in the High Park Region of Toronto where the client wanted Fiberglass and transoms needed to be Segmental for the front along with a Gothic... but as they were not of a standard nature it couldn't be done... keeping in mind this was sometime ago.. and we did do fiberglass, only with vinyl for the two transoms and gothic But, like everything it the industry, we've all come along way!! so good for you!! Always willing man up, sorry!!
