Has anyone used these windows? I've just found them and they appear to be about as good as it gets these days. They claim r5 for the operable and r6 for the fixed units. The secret is, no doubt, in 1 3/4" triple glazing. They appear to use aluminum extrusions with a plastic thermal break.

According to NFRC testing, it looks like the lowest U-values for Wausau's INvent PLUS fixed frame windows are 0.16 (R=6.25), but the SHGC are relatively low, 0.18 or 0.27, and the corresponding visual transmissions are 0.39 and 0.48. So the windows have excellent U-values, but relatively low solar gain, suitable unless high solar gain windows are part of the house design. The visual transmission of 0.39 would be low for some tastes. The U-values for their high solar gain windows of that series are unimpressive. |

This is a product from a commercial curtain wall firm, they aren't in the residential market. |
