Hello everyone I am currently looking into replacement the 15+ year old windows in my house. I live in a typical Victorian house. Not exactly the most efficient building out there. Anyway, I want to do this right. My concern is that I go to a local installer, they come round fit the window, shove some bog standard expanding foam round edges and finish it off with a sealant. We all high five each other and I’m left a few grand poorer and with a sub-standard installation. I want to invest in good quality windows and I don’t want them to be let down by poor finishes. So, what is the best way to deal with finishing off the edge of the window? I’ve read about airtight sealants and tapes on top of a suitable high quality foam. Also, what is the best way to ensure insulation around the internal reveals? Thanks for any guidance and advice.
