Thanks for the quick response. None-the-less, is the price based on square footage of a building floor plan or is it based upon the panel square footage. i.e., a 10x10 building is only 100sqft; however, it is also 320sqft of wall when the height of the wall is averaged at 8 foot high. So, $792 is quite diferent from $2534.40 when looking at the two possibilities of pricing. I ask again in order to understand the rough price and compare it with the $ 6.80-$7.64 ICF pricing for actual floorplan square footage.

Gin;

apples and oranges............... $7.92 includes walls and roof, base /top channels, center support beam for roof finished soffit and facia, ridge cap, all fasteners, window and door cut-outs framed and read for installation by others and labor to erect it.

ICF is walls only, no roof trusses/plywood deck , no roof/ceiling insulation, no soffit or facia, I would wager that the ICF price is not footprint area, but in fact surface area as well...... as plain concrete block is over $8.00 sq. ft. installed when you include, re-bar , lintels, concrete tie-beams and down pours, insulation, etc.

Just to be clear, the numbers you gave I assume do not include materials such as rebar, concrete and the forms? Thanks for such detailed information, its helpful.

The horse is dead, stop the beating. There should be a link on GBT's home page that says ICFs VS. SIPs and just links to all the previous blogs.

Respectfully...

AMEN. The best wall system will usually include a combination of wall types, especially when considering a passive solar design. If you really want to stir this pot, put post framing into the equation. Each building must be evaluated by style, location and use.. .
