Jimmy,
Look into "Cool Roof" metal shingles. They are new, have a high solar reflective index and come in 16 colors.
I built ICF houses in Florida using sprayed foam to seal the attics and impact insulated windows. My houses are rated at 200+ MPH and my utility bills are 1/3 of my neighbors.
My experience in the Bahamas was that 1/3 of everything got lost in customs and skilled labor was non existent.
Geo thermal heat pump into the water is the simply the best and most economical way to go.

I agree - be careful with aluminum. There are marine grade alloys that will be fine and there are other alloys that will get chewed up.  Galvanized steel also does well.
Galvalume is better
