Hi,

My husband and I are planning to build within the next year in the south-central Indiana area. We would like to build roughly 1800 sq ft heated with 2 car garage and utility unheated. We plan to use 6.5 in PU SIPs for the walls and 8-10 inch PU SIPs for the ceiling in the heated portion. We would like to make the house as tight and well insulated as possible while using materials that are still in the reasonable cost range. We have a rough layout and elevations and need an architect or designer who is experienced in this kind of design to turn our vision into a real plan. We'd like to incorporate PVs later, but for now we just want to have as efficient a structure as possible.

We're just looking for an architect or designer, since we've already found a builder that we are comfortable with.

Thanks!

You should be able to build a quality net zero home for $100 a foot if it is done correctly. I do it regularly for my clients.

I have been building net zero low cost homes since the 70s. You might want to take a look at the following video talk show I was on, or my web site. You can also call me if you have specific questions.

Happy to help people avoid costly mistakes. I have been down all of these roads several times.

Well, it's good that you have some ideas of what you want. That will certainly help you find the right person for the job. I might try to get some referrals from neighbors, locals in the area, paper ads, or maybe even a hardware store . Also, check online sites that have listings and reviews of architects and designers. These type of sites will have all types of contractors, so if you need to look for Indianapolis roofing contractors, remodeling, plumbing, etc. you'll find it maybe a little easier. Goodluck to you!

We are breaking ground on our home Today! We hired Bruce at www.justhouseplans.com to do a complete custom home. It was a very easy, back and forth design process. I do not have any ties to Bruce except I am a very happy customer. The price was very good compared to many others we shopped around for. He is in the Memphis office (we are building in upstate NY), and his contact info is...

Tell him Scott from NY sent you! (Again, no personal gain for me, just like the guy and he is good).
