Hello everyone! I am a student interior design major, and I am interested in green energy and all that jazz so I decided to keep myself educated. I figured a forum would be a great source for information. If any one has any advice they would like to pass along to a future designer, I am all ears.

Which school are you attending to study interior design?  I ask as a retired teacher from the School of Architecture at Auburn University that included interior design.

Read the threads on this site. There is a wealth of info on how to design various types of green homes, form the very inexpensive to the very expensive.

Simple roof lines are a good start.

Simple roof lines with lower pitches will not only make the home more green but also cost less to build.  Basically, I believe the interior designer will have very little input into the shape and size of the building shell since they normally design only the interiors after the exterior has been designed.

I'm studying at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA. I originally was in the architecture program, but I decided to switch to interior design because I really enjoy the given space. I really like the program because they teach us photoshop, microstation, and rhino. Like Auburn, we're under the school of architecture so we all work together; it's nice.

Rosalinda, I intend to definitely do so! I think forums are a great way to learn new material. I've been reading a good bit so far, and I've been very impressed. Good stuff!
