Was looking for information regarding a double deck roof construction. Having the first sheathing laid over the trusses, then using diagonal 1x strips over that, then vertical 1x strips over that, then another layer of sheathing. The idea is to separate the hot deck from the attic space. Anyone have info on this type of roof construction? Or what it might be called? Thanks

You could call it a "above the rafters vented roof deck". The first layer can be rigid foam. But do it mostly for moisture reasons, not heat.

I know it's been done mainly with tile and metal roofing but wondering if it's a feasible way to have a cooler attic space with standard shingles instead. Yeah I would do insulation above the first deck. Have any write ups about it?
