I am building an earth-sheltered home in Dunnellon, FL this October. Earth Sheltered Technology is doing the basic structure. I need a general contractor for the excavation and finishing of the building--I want to be as green as possible. Does anyone have any suggestions for who could help me with this?

Our own builder here in Central FL is Woody Dortch of Classic Structures, Inc.  (www.classicstructuresinc.com).  He specializes in ICF construction, but may be able to help you or point you in the right direction.  He said that he likes dealing with the unusual, which is one of the many reasons why we went with him for our project!

There was another green builder who we'd looked at but ultimately decided not to go with, because he seemed too busy to take on our project.  Here is his website: http://www.fallmandesign.com/     I've heard good things about him, also, though can't vouch for him personally.
