http://www.e-logsiding.com/ Considering it on my Post And Beam and figured I'd see if anyone has used it before I chase pricing on it. Anyone familiar with it ? Does this resolve the thermal bridging ? Interesting concept...saves a step from foam sheathing if it does. Mark

My concern is the R-value is not consistent across the whole building. You would be far better off with foam sheeting and then siding.

As far as log siding goes, this looks like a really interesting system. Their website provides the kind of information I look for on a site, and their response to my email was quick and to the point. I am interested in learning more, and possibly using their products in the future.
As to the insulation and thermal bridging question, think of the siding as a good suppliment to, but not a basic part of, your insulation system. It will not provide quality thermal bridging, too many areas of little or no insulation.

Thanks for the replies! In the new home Id probably not use it for the bridging issue. You know I realize this isnt the ideal resolve for thermal bridging however....
I have a camp also and I know that TB is a big issue. Its T111 stained exterior. I was thinking the 'thin' areas on this product run horizontal at the edges and the thermal bridge issue I have is mainly vertical with the studs (and some horizontal to a lesser degree)....so for a fast easy look upgrade that helps the TB issue quite a bit at the same time...it aint bad.
I just wonder if its off the wall costwise.

EastMark,
In your northern climate a good insulating system is SIPs covering the exterior perimeter outside of the frame of your Post and Beam home. No thermal bridging! You can get it with sheetrock on the inside and OSB on the exterior.
Also, please see your e-mail for a private message I sent.
