Is there any threat of making a poisonous home environment using this system?

there is certainly the potential for rot and mold. We've had the discussion here about wood foundations; my position is that it makes no sense to use short term strategies to save money when the cost of replacement is so high; the counter argument is that they last for years and years and it isn't/won't be a problem, and they are cheaper. So here we are. Let's hear from the proponents about repair strategies.

My recommendation is to hire a backhoe, dig it up, shore up the house and rebuild either another wood or a (permanent) concrete foundation. There is no cheap fix.
