I am having a geothermal system installed in my house this week.  My next project is to get heat in my shop.

I am going to be installing radiant in floor heating.  The building is 50' x 48' with no interior walls.  The engineering calculated a total heating load of 36000 btu/hour and a total radiant load of 33180btu/hour.  RFH Glycol level 30%.  Design temp drop 15 degrees f.  radiant tubing volume 39.1 us Gallons.  Total flow rate 5 usgpm.

I was going to go with a propane tankless water heater, but the water to water geo system is interesting to me.

I plan at keeping this building at low temp approx 55-60f
I will only be working in this building some nights and weekends.

Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thinking aloud... If you are going to be heating a large slab of cement, geo may take a long time to get that slab up to the temp you want.  While geo is my first choice for space heating, it has to make sense.  The on demand propane can produce much higher temps more quickly.  This will get your shop up to the temp you want quicker.  For occasional use, I am not sure the economics of geo will be favorable compared to a $1,000 on demand burner, some pex tubing, and occasional propane use.

Just my opinion.
