Tallahassee Community College (TCC) is gauging interest for green building training from engineers, architects, construction contractors and building management personnel in the Florida panhandle area. The training will be provided by TCC and will be paid for by a grant provided by the US Department of Labor through Florida's Great Northwest. In order to apply for this grant, TCC needs to establish that there is sufficient interest from professional in the building industry to participate in this training.
The proposed training will cover green project management, green building systems rating, energy auditing and rating, and general knowledge of Energy Star rating systems. The contact hours offered by this training will be applicable to continuing education units (CEUs) through the appropriate licensure board. A certificate issued by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) will be offered to participants who successfully complete the requisite test. The training will take the form of an NCCER online learning section performed before attending training, review of and test on the online learning section, and two half day sessions delivered in a classroom setting. As stipulated by the grant, workshop participants must earn a minimum annual income of $33,226 to be eligible for this training.
The training will be conducted in your geographic area, potentially a at the local community college. However if there is enough interest from any one company/organization the training can be held at the employer's place of work. This training is projected to commence in May and June of 2010.
