I saw a post on another forum the other day where the poster claimed that the r134 that is the propellant in the DIY spray foam kits is a very potent greenhouse gas.  His claim was that it might do more harm than the insulation would be able to save greenhouse gas wise.

The canned varieties like great stuff he said were not an issue since propane or isobutane were the propellants, and these are not potent ghg's.

Anyone know anything about this?  Guess I thought the refrigerants issue was ozone depletion, not ghg.

It was, that's why we got a whole new raft of refrigerants. Unfortunately, some of them turned out to be pretty potent GreenHouse Gases, R134a included.

Sure are no easy decisions.  Thanks for the link, I'll go check it out and see.  Little cans of great stuff are probably easier to manage little bits at a time I guess.

All the cans seems like alot of waste, but the GHG thing bothers me.
